Sejak awal episode, Han Jung Su Choi Jiwoo dibuat merana dan selalu ditindas oleh ibu dan adik tirinya. Selain itu, Stairway To Heaven termasuk drama paling populer di beberapa negara, tak terkecuali Indonesia. Kesuksesan drama ini didukung oleh unsur-unsur menarik, salah satunya adalah dari kualitas akting para pemain. Banyak kritikus film yang memuji akting para pemeran dalam drama ini, termasuk akting Han Jung Su versi muda Park Shin Hye dan Cha Song Joo versi muda Baek Seung Hyun. Sinopsis Kisah dibuka dengan adegan seorang pria dewasa bermain piano di pantai dengan ekspresi sedih. Ingatannya melayang ke masa lalu. Pria itu, Cha Song Joo, dulu mempunyai seorang teman yang sangat dekat bernama Han Jung Su. Apalagi ketika ayah Song Joo dan ibu Jung su meninggal, hubungan mereka semakin akrab. Baik Jung Su atau pun Song Joo selalu hadir untuk saling menguatkan, sehingga duka mereka tidak berlarut-larut. Seiring berjalannya waktu, perasaan keduanya berkembang. Tanpa perlu diungkapkan, perasaan keduanya sudah terlihat jelas. Kehidupan mereka pun tetap berjalan dengan baik dan bahagia. Sayangnya, kehidupan Jung Su berubah seketika sejak sang ayah menikah dengan aktris terkenal, Tae Mira Lee Hwi Hyang. Tae Mira masuk ke keluarga Han dengan membawa dua anak, Yoo Ri Park Jimi/Kim Tae Hee dan Tae Hwa Lee Wan/Shin Hyun Joon. Jung Su mengira bahwa Tae Mira akan jadi pelengkap kebahagiaan keluarganya, tapi rupanya tidak demikian. Tae Mi Ra justru merenggut semua kebahagiaan Jung Su. Semua orang di sekitar Jung Su berubah memusuhinya akibat provokasi Tae Mira dan anak perempuannya, Yoo Ri Park Jimi/Kim Tae Hee. Ayahnya yang dulu selalu mendukung dan berada di sisinya, berbalik bersikap dingin. Ibu tirinya berhasil mengesankan dirinya sebagai anak pembangkang, sehingga membuat sang ayah menganggap Jung Su berubah. Adik tirinya pun sama kurang ajarnya. Ia merebut semua milik Jung Su, termasuk Chang Song Joo. Yoo Ri bahkan tertarik pada Song Joo dan ingin menjadi pacarnya. Dengan bantuan ibunya, Song Joo dibuatnya menjauh dari Jung Su. Satu-satunya orang yang berada di pihak Jung Su adalah Tae Hwa Lee Wan/Shin Hyun Joon, kakak tiri yang justru jatuh cinta padanya. Tae Hwa tersentuh dengan kebaikan dan keramahan gadis itu. Kehidupan Jung Su seterusnya ibarat di dalam neraka. Sampai ia dewasa, sikap ibu dan adik tirinya tidak berubah. Suatu hari Yoo Ri menabrak Jung Su dengan mobilnya, sehingga ia terluka parah dan mengalami amnesia. Beli voucher streaming Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Viu, dll murah di Lazada Tae Hwa yang tahu kejadian itu membawa pergi Jung Su dari keluarga Han dan mengganti identitasnya. Ia ingin melindungi Jung Su dan berharap hatinya akan terbuka untuknya. Rupanya setelah berganti identitas menjadi Ji Soo, Jung Su masih belum bisa bernafas lega. Ia memang bersama Tae Hwa yang melindunginya, namun ia tetap tidak bisa jatuh cinta. Ingatan terdalamnya masih menyimpan kenangan tentang Song Joo sampai akhirnya mereka bertemu kembali. Kisah berlanjut dengan Song Joo dan Jung Su yang menikah. Tapi kebahagiaan mereka tidak bertahan lama. Jung Su didiagnosis menderita kanker mata sehingga ia kehilangan penglihatannya. Sel kanker terlanjur menyebar dan meskipun ia menerima donor mata dari Tae Hwa, umurnya tidak lebih panjang. Selang beberapa bulan setelah menikah, Jung Soo menutup mata. Konsisten dengan Kisah Sedih Cerita sepanjang 20 episode ini isinya adalah kesengsaraan bagi Jung Su. Meskipun ia diberi akhir yang bahagia dapat menikah dengan Song Joo, namun itu hanya beberapa saat. Sebelum mendapat kebahagiaan itu, ia mengalami banyak kehilangan. Seolah tidak cukup dengan kematian sang ibu, rentetan kisah sedih membuat Jung Su seolah tidak bersahabat dengan bahagia. Tahun 2003-2004, kisah-kisah drama Korea yang populer adalah cinta segitiga dengan pemerannya yang dibuat menderita. Stairway To Heaven adalah salah satu yang berhasil menjadi drama terbaiknya. Park Hye Kyung dan Lee Jang Soo berhasil meramu plot yang bikin orang tidak tahan untuk tidak meneteskan air mata.
